Mountains Beyond Mountains
This painting belongs to the artist's “scroll series”. The mountain drawn in the traditional GongBi style is cleverly placed within the scroll, extended beyond it is a mountain built with a modern architectural style. The painting entails a story that a mountain in the nature may be seen as a paradise by a city person, which exists only in imagination and is unreachable, whereas in reality, one can only travel among these geometric and concrete-built blocks - much like when we’re reading, we skip into a completely different dimension, but the outside world never stops spinning.
The red lines placed around the geometrics, create a completely sealed space that won’t allow reality to penetrate. This artist cleverly guides the audience to focus on decoding the meaning behind the painting, and the use of blues and greens is so beautiful which is also very pleasant on the eyes.
